Words with Enemies

Today, I got in trouble for using the word retarded, to refer to a group of individuals medically defined as slow, or "retarded." For everyone's benefit here is a definition of retarded:  http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/retarded.  Now, I may not think that words have any negative connotations that you don't allow it.  I don't believe in "politically correct"  because I think it degrades a word's standing in language.  I do admit I crossed a line when I promptly responded with "Screw politically correct!"  and I apologize for blowing up.  But I will stand by my decision to use the word "retarded" and all other words.  I firmly believe that a word only has the power you as an individual are willing to give it.

  1. I agree entirely, pal. The hell with politically correct. As if politics is correct in and of itself. Words are what they are.
