Today, I got in trouble for using the word retarded, to refer to a group of individuals medically defined as slow, or "retarded." For everyone's benefit here is a definition of retarded: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/retarded. Now, I may not think that words have any negative connotations that you don't allow it. I don't believe in "politically correct" because I think it degrades a word's standing in language. I do admit I crossed a line when I promptly responded with "Screw politically correct!" and I apologize for blowing up. But I will stand by my decision to use the word "retarded" and all other words. I firmly believe that a word only has the power you as an individual are willing to give it.

I agree entirely, pal. The hell with politically correct. As if politics is correct in and of itself. Words are what they are.
